CLIMBING YOUR FAMILY TREE
Resources on researching Jewish family history will be the subject of a free program on Sunday, October 3, 2010, at 1:30 PM. Co-sponsored by the Jewish Genealogical Society of Connecticut and the Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven, it will be held at the Ethnic Heritage Center, located at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, 270 Fitch Street. Parking is available next to the building.
Marvin Bargar, Archivist at the Jewish Historical Society, will present an introduction to the JHSGNH Archives and Library. Board members of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Connecticut will share information about JGSCT’s library collection, which is housed at the Godfrey Memorial Library in Middletown. The Godfrey is the only public library in Connecticut solely dedicated to genealogy, and has online access to the major genealogical databases.
Opportunities to ask questions will follow the presentations. Tours of the JHSGNH archives, at the Ethnic Heritage Center, and of the current exhibit about ethnic wedding customs, conclude the joint event.
